You've opened to a picture frame that's been lifted away. The image is still there — it just no longer has to be forced into its original size. This page says: maybe what needs loosening isn't the wish itself, but the shape you've already decided it must take.
If you've been feeling that things should have happened at a certain time, in a certain way, through a certain person, the book has opened to "loosen the expectation." Expectations can point the way — and they can become a cage. When reality differs even slightly, everything can feel like failure.
You've been interpreting "not following the script" as not being loved, not being good enough, having no hope. But life often grows new entrances along side paths — they just don't look like the map you drew at the start.
Write down the "should" you're most unable to release, then ask: if it doesn't happen this way, is there still something good? Not asking you to lower your standards — just asking you to take your eyes off the only version. When the expectation loosens a little, reality has room to draw near, and may even bring something you hadn't left space for.
